As Frankfort residents walked along the bike path at Breidert Green Park, they could already smell the aroma of chili and spices floating through the air — a sign that the Village’s 25th annual Winter on the Green Chili Cook-Off was about to begin.

Peggy Alexa, chairwoman of the cook-off, said almost 400 residents and friends participated in the event on Sunday, Feb. 16.

“This event brings out the whole community,” she said. “This is something fun to do during the winter.”
